When it comes to playing games on a computer there are two options that you could opt for. The first choice is the obvious desktop and the second option is laptops which are specially built for this purpose. Now it used to be that any person who uses a computer for this purpose would have hands down guaranteed that desktop is far superior to laptops but with the current technology on the market it’s not such an obvious difference anymore. Through the course of this article let us however see which the better option is still. Let us first look at it from the point of GPUs. When it comes to this PC is obviously at a higher level. Suffice to say no matter how fast these laptop GPUs get they will always be behind or rather slower than their desktop counterparts. However it is not by a large percentage anymore. Every year that gap closes, there may come a day in the near future where laptops may be able to match desktops but for now desktops are the clear winner. Next we have the CPUs. Even when it comes to this although laptops have caught up significantly but desktops still comes out on top. Same goes for the RAM, even though with most new laptops of this kind you can even go up to 32 GB of RAM without proper cooling such as with the desktop it can’t really make full use of it. There is only so much hardware you can fit into that tiny frame.
Gaming computer accessories can make the experience similar as possible but in terms of playing high graphic games smoothly desktops win. Even when it comes to storage the laptop loses out. Laptop hard disk space quite large nowadays but in comparison to what you can have on your desktop it still doesn’t quite cut it. When it comes to sound quality on the other hand it’s a bit of a tie at the moment. There was a time when laptop speakers were bad but now most good laptops of this kind comes with good built in speakers.
Of course if you are using awesome gaming headphones then it doesn’t really matter what you use as the sound quality would depend on your headset. When it comes to the display too the laptop wins. When it comes to a desktop you have to pay quite a bit to get a good screen. When it comes to portability it’s a clear win for the laptop. Most hardcore desktop rigs are bulky as well as heavy. At the end of the day you must understand is that these specialized laptops aren’t as bad an investment as they used to be. It’s true that parts are still not interchangeable and there are issues with size, weight etc. but if you can afford it this is also a very good investment now.
